Teens Benefit From Experiencing These Three Things

By Laura McDonald Being a teenager is such a wonderful time. It can also be a very frustrating time when factoring in all the changes occurring, required class work and studying, and so many people asking you what you want to be when you grow up. How many high school students actually know? Plus, half the time youre treated like a kid, the other half you should have known better. As the song goes in A Chorus Line, too young to take over, too old to ignore. Well, changes are occurring whether we want them to or not, and youre growing older and hopefully wiser. Take time to enjoy life. Kick back and relax, to recharge. But dont stay kicked back too long there are so many experiences out there for you, just waiting. Besides being fun, many of those experiences will make you a well-rounded person who then is able to enjoy life even more. Heres a list of some things to experience while youre a teen: 1. Care for a pet. Pets are great fun and the act of caring for them teaches responsibility. To have a living creature completely dependent upon you, thats a pretty awesome experience and one that shouldnt be taken lightly. If your living arrangements are such that a cat or dog isnt feasible, dont forget about the tanked or caged pet types. You could even adopt one if you cant own one, by offering to walk or otherwise care for a neighbors pet. Whats neater than cuddling a purring cat or petting a dog who thinks you hung the moon? 2. Sing or learn to play an instrument. The horizon of listening to and enjoying music is expanded by learning to play an instrument. Youre not just a bystander, youre making your own music. Its okay to be a band geek. Really. If youre not a member of your school band, learn guitar, piano, drums. 3. Learn a foreign language. The ability to speak and understand communication in another language also broadens horizons. Its very interesting to learn how many of our English words were taken from other languages. Here again, school may provide the opportunity to learn another language. If not, there are plenty of audio/visual programs available. Check with your public library. Doing these things attract other teens who share the same interests. As a result, you make more friends and already have something in common for discussions and to do together. Not a bad result for doing stuff that was fun to do anyway. Are you fascinated by trials? Do you like helping people? A career as a Paralegal is challenging, rewarding, and NEVER boring. How Not to Be Left Behind

By Dorothy K Daigle I was fairly young when I first answered an altar call in a Christian church. I had always loved God and walked with Him in companionship daily. So when I heard the invitation to come to the altar and give my life to Jesus, and have others pray with me there, I felt like I was just putting the finishing touch on my salvation. I remember the congregation singing, Just As I Am as an elderly member of the church prayed with me. When we stood up and she gave me a warm hug, I thought, now I know I am saved. But then I started wondering what had changed because I knelt and accepted Jesus. I didnt feel any different, and wondered if everyone who went to the altar and said those words was saved. During the next few days, I searched for reassurance. I went to Jesus. I started studying Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to see what he said about how we could know that we would inherit eternal life. What I learned was quite interesting! I didnt want to be left behind, so I seriously studied Jesus words. I learned that he told us if we wanted to inherit eternal life we must love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and love our neighbors as ourselves. This made sense to me. I thought, I knew there must be something more. So I began practicing loving others and myself. Then my spirit soared with the angels! I knew I was walking in warm, loving companionship with my heavenly Father. I knew that if I walked in fellowship with Him here, then of course I would still be walking in fellowship with him after I left my body. Now I was reassured! I knew I would not be left behind! Answering an altar call by going to the altar and accepting Jesus was only the beginning. Jesus always taught us to pray to God the Father. He taught us to love one another so others would know that we are his disciples. When we walk in companionship with our heavenly Father in this life, we can be assured we will not be left behind! It is not enough to just take the first step. Jesus told us that he is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes unto the Father but by him. The key to this verse is comes to the Father. This means Jesus showed us the way to be allowed to approach God the Father, in other words, to stand before the Judge. He redeemed the human race by proving that mankind was worth saving. As the son of man, he overcame evil on the cross by keeping unconditional love in his heart right to the end, even for those who were crucifying and tormenting him. He showed that man had potential to love unconditionally! But as we stand before Him, He will look into our hearts to see if we love Him, and others as ourselves. This is when those who have unconditional love in their hearts will be directed to move to the side with those who will inherit eternal life in His presence, and the others will move to the dark side because their hearts are dark. The angels rejoice each time a soul expresses love! We can do this! We can know that we will not be left behind! I look forward to meeting you in His eternal Kingdom of Love. Warm thoughts, Dottie In the book, Red Hat Speaks, by Dorothy K. Daigle, the spiritual path to our heavenly Fathers eternal kingdom is laid out. Red Hat Speaks can be ordered from any bookstore, or from www.iuniverse.com directly. Dorothy was taught by Cherokee elder and wisdom keeper, John Red Hat Duke, for over ten years in the Keetoowah Cherokee spiritual ways, in Eastern philosophy, and in Judaism. She was raised Christian so she has a good working knowledge of Christianity. She now follows no religion but strives to walk the Red Road spiritual path according to Jesus teachings. She received her call from Creator in the fall of ’92, and was then taught by the great prophet Elijah for four years. She was given four assurances by Creator when He called her. She was told that she was anointed by the Holy One of Israel, that she would be protected until this work was done, that Creator would go before her whenever He sent her somewhere, and that she did not have to prove herself to anyone. She is Creators witness. She carries wisdom of many years of living under Creator’s guidance and direction. The Beginner’s Guide to Permanent Weight Loss, Part 1

By Charles Blain “The World’s Strongest Fat Burner” I remember one evening I was watching TV and flipping through channels until I saw a commercial that caught my attention. It was quite obvious why I would be interested in it because I was looking to lose weight at the time and I was being teased with what they called “the world’s strongest fat burner”. That commercial was for a diet pill, it had all the regular promises of “easy” and “fast” weight loss combined with the fact that you can eat anything that you want. I did not buy the product but it always stuck in my mind because of the claim of being “The world’s strongest fat burner”. After losing all the weight that I needed to and after educating myself about healthy eating and permanent weight loss, I came to find something else that is very close to being the world ‘s strongest fat burner and I am here to reveal what that is to you. What I am talking about is water. If there is one thing that has the consensus of diet gurus and all the different weight loss programs out there, it is the use of water. You have heard all over the place that you need to drink water to help you lose weight, but: Have you ever wondered why? Have you ever asked yourself how does water help you lose weight? If you do not know how exactly, it’s not your fault. You see, nobody has a patent on water and it is something that is hard to mark up and make a ton of money from. There are not a lot of benefits for the weight loss marketers to taunt the virtues of water. People just know that water is important to weight loss, but since there is not a lot of money to be made out of water, marketers may make it seem like water is not as important to weight loss as say diets pills for example. Before I reveal to you why I think water is the “world’s strongest fat burner”, I first want to dispel the biggest myth about water. Some people do not drink enough water when they diet, thinking they will lose more weight if they don’t retain any excess water. However, this is a myth and just the opposite happens. If you do not drink enough water every day, your body may be storing water and fat that you do not need or want . Your body needs water and is sixty/seventy percent water. Nevertheless, if you do not drink enough water, your body thinks it is in danger and tries to hold onto all the water it can get. The water is stored between the cells and shows up as extra weight. Your feet, legs and hands may even swell up. However, when your body does get enough water, the extra stored water weight is released and you will easily see the difference on the scale. In addition, the more water you drink, the less you’ll eat. Water is nature’s own appetite suppressant. A glass of water before eating will help you feel full and eat less. You will also get rid of extra salt by drinking water (salt can also cause the body to hold onto water). Besides all this, there is another reason why I believe water is “the world’s strongest fat burner”, and it’s a shame that almost nobody talks about it. You need water for your body to burn fat. Here is why : You see, your liver is a fat burning organ. It is there to help you burn body fat; therefore, you need the liver to function at optimal level for the best weight loss results. Now, without water, your kidneys cannot do their job of eliminating wastes properly and your liver must then pitch in to help. While your liver is busy helping out the kidneys, the liver then cannot burn as much fat as it could, so some of the fat that would normally be used as fuel gets stored in your body as fat instead. Drinking more water helps your kidneys do their job and indirectly allows your liver to get back to its own job of turning fat into fuel. Now you can easily see why something as simple as drinking water would have more of an effect on your weight loss efforts than say a $60 diet pill bottle. Your next question might be, “How much water do I need to accomplish this?” I am sure that you have heard about the standard recommendation of drinking at least eight, 8 oz. glasses of water every day. However, this is just for maintaining normal body function on a regular basis. If you are looking to lose weight, you need to drink more than that. Have you ever wonder why eight glasses of water is the recommendation for everybody. No matter how much you weight or how much you exercise. This does not seem like a sensible advice at all. However, it is the general recommendation about water. Do you think a 120 pounds person needs as much water as 300 pounds person? My recommendation is to drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water. For example if you weight 200 pounds, your goal should be to consume about 100 ounces of water a day. Now, I have one last tip about getting more water into your system. If you are accustomed to drinking just one to two glasses a day, trying to change suddenly to 8-10 glasses a day is just a recipe for failure. Instead, try to improve to 4 glasses for the next 2-3 weeks and when you feel comfortable with that, you can move on to the next level until you can easily handle more than 8 glasses a day. Providing Dental Beauty is a Tough Skill to Master

By J. S. Ronette Planning to upgrade your smile? Just make an appointment with any cosmetic dentist. Right? Not so fast. A wonderful smile doctor can be hard to findparticularly when looking for a seasoned professional who provides sophisticated planning for appearance-related treatments. Cosmetic dentistry is as much about developing an eye for esthetics as it is about using intricate high-tech materials, says Dr. Daniel J. Deutsch, of the Washington Center for Dentistry, in Washington, DC. The trick is to learn about and apply artistic principles to smile design and keeping up with advanced-grade porcelains. That means knowing your materials and making choices based on physical traitsheight, shape of the face, lips, skin color, bone structureas well as personality traits of patients. A smile does not exist in a vacuum, says Dr. Deutsch. It needs to complement someones overall look and naturally reflect the person inside. Most dental consumers would be surprised to learn that cosmetics is not even considered a specialty in the practice of dentistry. Any dentist can claim to be a cosmetic dentist with or without years of additional training or experience. So, how do dentists hold themselves to a high standard and rise to the top of their game in the cosmetic arena? The answer is a lot of educationwith the right teachers. To go for that high level of excellence, it takes a lot of effort to seek out the few, extraordinary practitioners offering comprehensive teaching programs, says Dr. Marc Doctors, also of the Washington Center for Dentistry, who travels far away for lectures and intense hands-on workshop sessions. And any dentist will tell you its hard to leave a practice and take time to improve their level of expertise. And after all that educationexperience matters most. It is one thing to know it, and it is another to master it and apply it in the right way. Theres a steep learning curve with cosmetic procedures, says Dr. Deutsch, who has traveled as far as Seattle, Washington for courses. It takes time to learn how to apply techniques to different people, to bring out the best in each person. Thats the true art of being a cosmetic dentist. And heres a tip for patients looking for the ultimate cosmetic dentist: A highly regarded cosmetic dentist is a dentist who has done hundreds and hundreds of cases, says Dr. Deutsch. He should be able to display photos of many, many of his own patientsshowing their smiles before and after. Thats what really matters. Review of The Potent Hoodithin Liquid

By Jeremy Hansen Yes, its another weight loss potion. Another way to miraculously strip inches of fat from your body simply by consuming an innocent few drops of liquid per day. I’m sure you’ve heard it all before, however in the case of the new ‘wonder’ weight loss treatment Hoodithin, there might just be a little more involved than meets the eye. 2006 has seen the popularization of the Hoodia diet pill for weight loss. Hoodia has been demonstrated in numerous studies to be particularly effective and its benefits have been featured on tv programs from 60 minutes to Oprah. Hoodithin is the newest and most potent kind of Hoodia: Liquid Hoodia. As we will look at, liquid form Hoodia has specific and powerful benefits that are set to send the already existing Hoodia users into a frenzy. Just to get it out of the way, here is the basic science behind Hoodia. Generally the reason for excessive eating, has to do with a signal that is sent from our body’s digestive system to our brain that tells us when our stomach is full. We can FEEL when we are full and when we aren’t, this is otherwise called your appetite. The chemical ingredients of the naturally occuring Hoodia plant actually act within the hypothalamus of the brain to release a signal that indicates that we are fuller sooner, hence suppressing our appetite and causing us to eat less food. Clinical studies have confirmed these results but perhaps even more interesting is the fact that the bushmen of a tribe in South Africa from where Hoodia is found have been discovered to have used the Hoodia plant so that they could survive long periods without food such as on continual hunting trips. So how’s Hoodithin different? This is where it gets interesting. Hoodithin is basically the liquid form of Hoodia. When scientists first discovered the miracle properties of Hoodia it was developed into a tablet form for consumption by humans. This involved extracting the active ingredients from the plant, solidifying and processing them so they could be made into tablets, then combined with various vegetable extracts and fillers to complete the tablet construction process. This along with the fact that in tablet form the body has to undergo added work to break the tablet down and extract the ingredients usually results in around 20% of the active ingredients of a Hoodia tablet be able to be absorbed by the body and have its effect on the brain as desired. Hoodithin Liquid however is able to overcome this problem. By liquefying the Hoodia, scientists were able to completely isolate the powerful ingredients and allow for it to be absorbed with almost no effort on the bodys behalf. This means that when you take Hoodithin liquid drops, your body is able to absorb almost 95% of the active ingredients extracted from the Hoodia plant, almost instantly. As you can imagine this dramatically enhances the results you can get from your usage, or in simple terms, you can lose more weight faster! So the fact that the substance works is no longer a question. However there are some factors that still need to go into the consideration before a decision is made as to whether such a potion is worth our time. Gary Stephens is a writer on weight loss supplements and runs an informational website dedicated to the discussion of the new weight loss solution Hoodithin. 3 Fashion Myths About Guys Debunked

By Simon Brady We are guys and we are simpler and more complicated than you think at the same time. We have long held beliefs and standards for ourselves some that we may change at a moments notice and some that are set in stone. I will let you in on 3 myths that you probably think about us that are simply not true sorry guys! Myth #1: We dont care what our clothes look like. Metrosexuals aside, there is a general belief, perpetuated by guys, that we dont care about our dress. Our t-shirts are 18 years old, our jeans have holes in them and our shoes were bought during the Reagan administration. The truth is that we dont buy new clothing because we care how we look. It is tougher than you ladies think to find mens fashion that fits right. We may have big behinds, we may have big thighs or we may have short legs. These dont lend themselves to a nice fitting pair or pants so we keep wearing the old pair of jeans that are literally hanging together by a string. We also dont have the luxury of voicing our body image woes to our guy friends so we have to keep it all inside! Myth # 2: We hate shopping This one is a long held misconception about guys. The truth is, we dont hate shopping, we just hate shopping without a purpose. We have no problem going to the store and purchasing a nice fitting shirt (see above) when we can, but we like to get in the store, buy our item and get out. Trying on the item is optional. We need a purpose in there. Us men cant just go browsing, we are there for a reason and the sooner we accomplish our goal the sooner we can get home to watch the Yankees. Myth # 3: We dont notice fashion trends The truth is, we do notice the newest trends, we are just hesitant to try anything new for fear of being that guy. Weve had that guy in our lives since we were in grade school. The guy that showed up with Michael Jacksons red leather jacket and parachute pants the day after the Thriller video came out. Hes the same guy that has the tousled hair so popular in Hollywood now and who wears the Italian shoes that look like sneakers. None of would mind looking up to date and stylish but we dont make any changes for fear of looking foolish. This is a defect in us and its the reason that elderly men still wear black knee highs with their shorts while playing shuffleboard. Those of under forty dont dare make fun of these gentlemen because we know that but for the grace of God. Fat Loss without Cutting Calories

By Wayne Mcgregor Did you know its actually possible to lose fat without a calorie deficit? Its all about timing. The correct timing refers to certain situations when our body is more inclined to burn fat rather than carbohydrates or protein, such as when glycogen levels (muscles sugar reserves) are low and the body is forced to use greater amounts of fat for fuel. Timing can be applied to other aspects involved in the fat loss process, such as nutrition and meal frequency as well as exercising. Correct timing is the key to fat loss and there are a number of ways we can use timing to our advantage. The best exercise for each body type at the right time, a pyramid style of calories ingested during a day, the correct macro nutrient ratio for each meal and meal frequency are more examples of timing which can boost fat loss without the necessity of reducing calorie intake. With the right timing you can tap into stored fat much quicker. What about all the advice to consume fewer calories? I am not saying that all the normal advice we hear is incorrect. It is sound advice but a calorie deficit is still needed to lose WEIGHT. Weight loss and fat loss are two separate entities, and its fat loss dieters really need in order to change body composition for the best. When concentrating on merely losing weight can cause false results, the weight loss will be made up of various components; water, muscle, glycogen as well as some body fat. How much fat is lost through a calorie deficit alone will depend on many factors; percentage of calorie deficit, exercise frequency, body type, nutritional intake, macronutrient ratios, etc. These are just a few things to consider, but the fact is most dieters tend to lose far too much muscle when cutting calories. Muscle wastage means a loss of more water weight than stored body fat, and this is often the reason why many dieters develop a reduced metabolism within a month or so. A slow metabolism stops further weight loss and is partly why you may gain back the weight after a diet. Fat Loss Timing As an example of the importance of timing think about the situation if doing a weights session and a cardio session in the same workout, which exercise is done first? I believe you should always do weights first, why? Weight training is classed as an anaerobic exercise so it burns a larger percentage of carbohydrates for fuel. If you did cardio first you will deplete muscle glycogen stores simply because there is plenty at the beginning of a workout and the body prefers this energy source. Now due to low glycogen stores the weights session will now be below the intensity of what is required to build or tone muscle, and without more muscle you wont increase the metabolism. By doing weights first you have enough carbohydrate stores (glycogen) to train well and boost the metabolism, also a good weights session will deplete the glycogen levels which sets the optimum TIME to burn more fat through the cardio session. This is where timing is really important, and in this case you would have a net loss of stored body fat without a calorie deficit. Another example of timing is eating your highest calorie meal after a workout. This is because our metabolism is slightly elevated for up to 2 hours after training, all the enzymes which work to absorb and store nutrients are extremely active, therefore all energy present in the meal will more than likely be used up for recovery and less chance any fat will be stored on the hips. This is also the best time to indulge in bad foods if you have trouble with any cravings. Obviously you just make sure not to overdo it as you dont want to undo all efforts of the workout. Timing is the Key to accelerated Fat Loss The right timing for exercise, meals and carbohydrate intake is a real advantage for losing body fat. In fact many bodybuilders use timing to help strip most fat from the physique a few months before a show. The only disadvantage is timing alone may take a considerable amount of time for those who need to lose a large amount of body fat. However many overweight people can use both a slight calorie deficit AND timing to help speed up the process of losing a large amount of stored body fat, it just takes a little knowledge and effort to implement certain principles. Its too difficult to simply state how to implement timing tricks because each person will have a different set of circumstances. You need the knowledge in order to adapt the principles for your own body type, eating habits, exercise ability, fitness and lifestyle. Losing fat weight over just weight loss is the most important aspect of permanent weight control, there are numerous ways we can trick our body into burning a greater amount of body fat, but some techniques need to be learned and tested. Losing weight is relatively easy but losing stored body fat is a science which requires the use of important principles adapted to individual requirements. Wayne Mcgregor has written hundreds of articles on ways to lose weight. Chiropractor – History of Chiropractic

By Michael Russell The history of the chiropractor dates back as far as 17,500 BC. Hippocrates believed that a misaligned spine contributed to the health of an individual. Modern day chiropractic goes back over 100 years, when the first adjustment was given by Dr. Daniel Palmer on September 18, 1895. Dr. Palmer, born in Canada in 1845, was very much interested in the healing art and first learned magnetic healing. This form of healing used the magnetism in the body. In 1886, Dr. Palmer opened his first office of magnetic healing in Burlington, Iowa. From there, he went on to open another office in Burlington, Iowa in 1887. His interest was finding the cause and effect of sickness. He studied to discover what causes sickness and what effects sickness has on the human body. The first chiropractic adjustment he gave in 1895 was performed on a man who had lost his hearing 17 years previously. He reported to Dr. Palmer that at the time of losing his hearing, he had strained his back and had heard a noise in his back when this happened. Suspecting that there could be a spinal misalignment, Dr. Palmer examined him and did find a vertebra out of line. Dr. Palmer adjusted the vertebra back into position and the man’s hearing did improve. This proved Dr. Palmer’s theory that if the spine is aligned correctly, the nerve flow to all parts of the body will work correctly and, thus, the body will be healthy and free of disease. Dr. Palmer was excited to think that he may have discovered a cure for all sickness. Criticism of this new healing technique came from many, especially the medical community, as it did not involve the traditional medical theory of health. For years, chiropractic was discredited, made fun of and even referred to as quackery. A lot of this still goes on today, but, unfortunately, this is due to misunderstanding. Many people do not understand the concept of chiropractic and have only listened to the propaganda that’s been broadcast. In fact, it wasn’t until the early 1970s that insurance companies started to recognize chiropractic as legitimate health care and allowed claims to be paid for chiropractic care. In 1897, Dr. Palmer opened his chiropractic school in Davenport, Iowa, calling it the Palmer Infirmary and Chiropractic Institute. The name was later changed in 1907 to Palmer School of Chiropractic. Enrollment at first was low, with only 24 students in 1906, but today there are over 20 schools with enrollment of over 10,000 students. Educational requirements to receive a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree is a minimum of eight years of study. That includes a four year undergraduate degree with two years of pre-professional studies. The studies include chemistry, physics, biology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pediatrics, dermatology and genetics. Before being able to graduate, a one year clinical internship must be completed. After graduation, four national and state examinations (in the state they plan to practice in) must be passed before their license is obtained. Today chiropractic is better accepted by the medical community as being a legitimate health care provider and ranks second behind medicine as the largest health provider.
